Ladybirds Playgroup and Forest School, Dorset

Ladybirds Playgroup

We aim to:

Find the brilliance in every child

We put the United Nations Charter of Children’s Rights at the heart of everything we do. We help children to respect one another’s rights, their environment and understand about the wider world.

” Judged by Ofsted Feb 2014 as ‘Good’ with ‘Outstanding’ for Children’s wellbeing!”

We believe that young children thrive outdoors and opportunities to play and learn outside are given a high priority.

Outdoor Learning

All our children are given the freedom to choose to learn outdoors. Here they can understand how to stay healthy, keep themselves safe, learn through all their senses and grow up to respect the natural environment.

Forest School Sessions: where children are free to investigate, explore, experience and discover in a wild but safe environment.

Free Flow Play: during hall sessions children are free to choose whether to follow their interests indoors or out.

Sensory Garden: Our children are encouraged to use this area to explore usingall their senses and to enjoy gardening activities. In line with our Healthy Eating focus we give our children the opportunity to grow, harvest then cook and eat their own vegetables.

Field Space: we are delighted to be given the opportunity through village community funding to develop this area to include wildlife areas, exploration and adventure areas.

Regular Visits: we believe in the benefit of trips and excursions around the community.
